The Poetical Scientist
Between two worlds of Art and Science, life hovers like a star.
One of Rust & Stardust's Touring Shows, The Poetical Scientist is the third part of our Magic of Science Trilogy.
Designed for indoor performance and mid-to-large audiences, the play is a musical drama lasting 75 minutes featuring six puppets and two professional actor-puppeteers from Rust & Stardust.
A celebration of the life of one of the pioneers of science, featuring projection, music and table-top puppetry, Rust & Stardust's The Poetical Scientist is a drama that flies to the heights of creativity, just like its subject, Ada Lovelace.

Daughter of the poet Lord Byron and his wife, the pioneering education reformer Annabella Milbanke, Ada Lovelace is best-remembered as the Mother of Computer Programming.
In The Poetical Scientist, join Ada across the journey of her life, from her Georgian childhood adventures and experiments as shared with her playful cat, Mrs Puff, to her challenges as she grows into a society beauty and brilliant mathematician.
Most notable of all, learn the story of her later life working with Charles Babbage and his Difference Engine, and of the discoveries she made, through her creativity and spirit, about how machines can learn to think and new life be woven out of pure imagination.
Our workshops are a fun and creative way to explore the magic of shadow puppetry, table top puppetry, storytelling, music, craft activities, and more.
After consultation with you, Rust & Stardust's highly experienced facilitators guide classes or groups through a bespoke range of activities supporting curriculum goals which encourage them to be imaginative and expressive while acquiring new knowledge and skills.
All of our workshops also promote sustainability in the use of recycled materials, and can be tailored to your specific needs.
